Chad Sitts, Principal of Howe Elementary School
My name is Chad SItts and I am 40 years old and live in Broadalbin New York with my wife Shauna and my girls Natalie (11) and Aubrey (8). When I am not working with our students, families, and community as the principal of Howe Elementary, I love to stay as active as I can with my family hiking, biking, swimming, and skiing whenever possible. I also love soccer and golf and try to still play myself whenever possible.
I started my educational journey at Suny Oswego where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Education. I then earned a Master of Science in Education degree with a concentration in integrating technology in the classroom K-12 from SUNY Plattsburgh. I also obtained my School Building Leadership certification from there as well.
This is my 6th year with the Schenectady City School District and first as an Elementary Building Principal within the district. I started in the district as an Instructional Supervisor in 2017 at William C. Keane Elementary. I then moved to Howe Elementary in 2020. During my tenure as an Instructional Supervisor I also participated on the district’s strategic planning committee and served as a site leader for the Schenectady Summer Enrichment Program for four years.
Prior to coming to Schenectady, I was a fourth-grade teacher at Edinburg Common School for nine years. I gained valuable knowledge and experience during my time there, not only working with my students as their classroom teacher, but also serving as the district testing coordinator, curriculum coordinator, and co-chair of the technology committee. I was also lucky enough to coach multiple sports from grades 3 all the way up to varsity.
