Mr. O’Connor has been an educator for 22 years and has spent the last 17 of those years working in the Schenectady City School District. He began his educational career teaching English in Madrid, Spain. 

Prior to becoming an administrator, Mr. O’Connor was a social studies teacher for 9 years in multiple Schenectady schools and achieved National Board Certification in 2012. In 2015, Mr. O’Connor became Dean of Students at Zoller and the next year became Assistant Principal/Instructional Supervisor. In March of 2020, Mr. O’Connor was appointed as Principal of Zoller. 

It is his belief that “setting high expectations and maintaining a consistent focus of continuous improvement utilizing the experience and expertise of the school community, leads to a successful school where students, caregivers and staff feel valued, and a  strong school community is built with engaged stakeholders working hard and collaborating toward a common vision and collaboratively setting goals to reach that vision.”
