Laurie Timmis, Principal of Lincoln Elementary School
Laurie Timmis is proud to be the principal of Lincoln Elementary Community School. Prior to this role, she was the Instructional Supervisor at Lincoln.
Ms. Timmis is passionate about literacy and supporting the academic and social needs of all students, showing students what is possible, and sharing the joy that comes from learning.
She began her educational career as a speech language pathologist and has worked in public schools, private schools, Head Start programs, special education preschools, and a developmental center. She has a B.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders, an M.S. in Speech Language Pathology, a C.A.S in Educational Administration, and a C.A.S. in Literacy Teaching and Learning. Ms. Timmis followed her mother’s footsteps into education and chose to work with students with disabilities because of her love for her sister, Carolyn. Carolyn had Down’s Syndrome and a limited ability to communicate with others outside her family as she was non-verbal.
As a speech language pathologist, Ms. Timmis was accompanied by her therapy dog, Joe, who had a knack for getting kids talking. Ms. Timmis’ current dogs are too goofy to be therapy dogs and are unsure of the meaning of the word, “sit.”
