Christopher Chank, Early College High School Principal
Christopher Chank is the principal of the Early College High School and SHS Musical Theatre Program at Proctors, which collectively make up our district's City Campus located in downtown Schenectady. He helped to develop and launch the programs in 2022. Prior to this opportunity he served as the Executive Principal at Schenectady High School.
Christopher has spent his entire career working to improve instruction for his high school students. As a former National Board Certified Teacher, he believes that all children can learn and thrive in a learning environment that is stimulating, comforting and appropriate to their unique talents and abilities. He spent fourteen years teaching various social studies subjects and skills to high school students, including seven within Schenectady High School. In 2008, he became the Dean of Students in the John Sayles School of Fine Arts (JSSFA) at Schenectady High School and was later appointed to be the Principal of the JSSFA. Additionally, he proudly led the Schenectady High School Classes of 2015 and 2019 through their high school years and graduation as their High School Cohort Principal
Christopher is a proud alumnus of the College of Saint Rose in Albany earning both Bachelor's and Master’s degrees in History and Political Science. Additionally he completed his Certificate of Advanced Study in Education Administration at Saint Rose and possesses New York State certification as both a district and building leader.
Chris and his wife Shelly are the proud parents of three children who all thrived and graduated from the Schenectady City School District. He enjoys traveling with his family, loves to read, and swims as often as the weather permits.
