Schenectady City School District's City as Our Campus Leadership Community is a new district initiative designed to provide students with real-world experiences. In Phase One of the district's Secondary Redesign, we began working with our community partners to gain a greater understanding of the strengths of our community.

Community, our teachers design and implement projects, units, and courses that enhance their curricula. They are building relationships with our community partners to create powerful learning opportunities for students. Our Secondary Redesign acknowledges that our schools are not the only center for learning. The City of Schenectady's libraries, museums, theaters, college campuses, and even virtual spaces have a place in the education of our students. Our goal is to give our students exposure to the city to become familiar with its culture and history and to interact with community members to understand their diverse viewpoints and stories. We believe this exposure will allow our students to learn new skills and knowledge through real-world learning experiences.
