Suicide Prevention Resources

Please reach out to one of the resources listed below if you see or know of anyone who has any of the following signs or symptoms:

  • Talks about committing suicide

  • Has trouble eating or sleeping

  • Experiences drastic changes in behavior

  • Withdraws from friends and/or social activities or hobbies

  • Loses interest in hobbies, school or personal appearance

  • Gives away prized possessions

  • Appears to be "saying goodbye"

  • Has attempted suicide

  • Takes unnecessary risks

  • Is suffering as the result of recent loss

  • Has a preoccupation with death and dying

  • Signs of depression

Signs of depression in teens

  • Sad, anxious or "empty" mood

  • Declining school performance

  • Loss of pleasure/interest in social and sports activities

  • Sleeping too much or too little

  • Changes in weight or appetite

Steps teens can take to help their friends

  • Take your friend's actions seriously

  • Encourage your friend to seek help

  • Talk to an adult.  Don't be alone in helping your friend
