JAMAICA MILES

Jamaica Miles has been a board member since 2021.

Her current term runs 2021-2024.

She is a member of the Wellness Committee and is liaison to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School, Lincoln Elementary School and Woodlawn Elementary School.

What do you enjoy most about being a board member for our district?
Being able to look for foundational solutions that will keep moving our district forward for all children and families.

You've been visiting schools and attending districts events. What has been your favorite school or student-related moment so far this year?
There are so many events, meetings, and activities across the district, it is hard to attend them all. Other than the excitement and music of the first day of school at Keane, I've appreciated the informational meetings, emails, and social media posts letting families know what is happening inside our schools. Be sure to like and follow the school district and the pages of the schools your children attend.

What's one thing you would like our school community to know about you that they probably don't already?
I don't think that everyone know that I was kicked out of Mont Pleasant High School, attained by GED, went to SCCC where I was a voice major who graduated with my A.S. in Business Administration, and then transferred to UAlbany and received my B.A. in Psychology with a Minor in Education. My father repeatedly told me how important education is and often reminded me that we should always keep learning whenever and however we can for our entire lives. I do what I can to live that every day.
