Communications Mission
The Schenectady City School District is committed to honest, open, transparent internal and external communication. Maintaining open dialogue, using a variety of tools to provide timely and accurate information, and keeping the school and greater community informed is essential. We must strive to communicate regularly about our district and schools not only to inform but also to be transparent in all areas regarding district information, positive and negative incidents and responding to stakeholder or media inquiries. It is vital that our families, staff members, community members, and all those interested in the district trust that we are transparent, a district of integrity and are committed to building strong relationships with all of the stakeholders. Our district cannot grow or thrive without the belief and support of the employees, students, their families and the community. Strong communication and strategies are essential to building and maintaining essential relationships with all stakeholders.
The Communications team will:
Implement a program that supports the school district vision and mission
Foster strong relationships with all stakeholders and strengthen support for the district
Continue to build and strengthen district relations within the district and with the community
Provide clear and concise focus and direction in messages
Utilize many media sources to provide accurate, timely information, promote the district and maximize awareness of the district’s goals, objectives and programs
Establish strong, positive connections between the district, individual schools with the overall community and each school community
Create key messages to establish a clear voice throughout all communication channels
Maintain proactive media relations to enhance the district’s image
Take proactive approach to providing honest district messages
Promote, facilitate and enhance parent, students and community emgagement
