Author visits Schenectady Schools

Next week, April 27th and April 28th, Tony Hillery, author and founder of the Harlem Grown Foundation will be visiting our district. He will be working with second graders at Van Corlaer Elementary and William C. Keane Elementary schools on Community Visioning connected to their school gardens, and holding an assembly at Yates Elementary to be streamed across the district. He will also be visiting Schenectady High School to speak with students interested in urban agriculture and food justice issues.

On Thursday, April 27th at 6:00 pm he will be giving a talk and book signing at the Central Branch of the Schenectady County Public Library in the McChesney Room. There will be garden themed raffle prizes and light refreshments served at that event, which is free and open to the community.   In honor of his visit, look for fresh garden veggies in our school lunch menus next week, including our Harvest of the Month recipe, Carrot Escabeche featuring yummy spring carrots!
