We hope you are enjoying your recess.

Below are a few important reminders.

NO SCHOOL MONDAY

There is no school on Monday, April 8 (the day of the solar eclipse). We look forward to seeing everyone back in school on Tuesday, April 9.

NEW YORK STATE TESTING NEXT WEEK

New York State English Language Arts (ELA) Testing will begin shortly after we return from recess. The testing dates are as follows:

English Language Arts (ELA)

  • Grades 3 & 4: April 10, April 11

  • Grade 5: April 16, April 17

  • Grades 6 - 8: April 10, April 11

Any test refusals must be submitted in writing to your child's principal. Please indicate the exam you are opting your child out of along with a parent/guardian signature. This request must be provided prior to the date of the exam. If you have questions, please contact your child's principal.

DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION (DEI) PARENT/GUARDIAN/CAREGIVER SURVEY

Please be on the lookout for an email with a link to the DEI survey beginning April 10. The survey will be emailed to parents/guardians/caregivers. Learn more about the survey and opportunities to participate in upcoming focus groups by clicking here.


SUMMER ENRICHMENT PROGRAM REGISTRATION

It's not too late to sign up for the 2024 Summer Enrichment Program. Registration closes April 12.

2024-2025 PRE-KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM

We will provide full-day 3-year old and 4-year old Pre-K programs in 2024-2025.

Admission is by lottery.

Please select the application based on the age of your child effective December 1, 2024.

Eligible children must be a resident of the Schenectady City School District and meet the following age requirements:

UPK 3-year old: Child must be three years of age on or before December 1st of the year for which they are enrolled.

UPK 4 -year old: Child must be four years of age on or before December 1st of the year for which they are enrolled.

SHADES OF SISTERHOOD

The Shades of Sisterhood launch has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 27 from noon- 3 p.m. at Schenectady High School.

Middle and high school girls are invited to attend. Since refreshments are being provided, please let us know you will be attending by emailing shadesofsisterhood24@gmail.com
