Tyler Magyar Named Assistant Principal of Woodlawn Elementary School

The Schenectady City School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Tyler Magyar as the new Assistant Principal of Woodlawn Elementary School, effective December 1, 2025. The Board of Education officially approved his appointment on November 5, 2025. 

Magyar brings a wealth of instructional and leadership experience to this new role. Since 2023, he has served as an Instructional Math Coach at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School. Before that, he was an AIS ELA Educator at the school. His experience in the district also includes time as a math and science teacher at Mont Pleasant Middle School from 2020 to 2021.  Prior to joining Schenectady, Magyar taught second grade in both the North Colonie Central School District and the Niskayuna Central School District.

Throughout his career, Magyar has consistently collaborated with teachers and administrators to strengthen instruction, support student growth, and build a positive school culture.

“I’m excited to continue that work in my new role as Assistant Principal at Woodlawn,” said Magyar.

Magyar earned a Bachelor of Science in Childhood Special Education with a concentration in Social Studies from the College of Saint Rose, and a Master of Science in Education, Elementary Reading and Literacy from Walden University. He is currently in the process of completing a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from SUNY Plattsburgh.
