Mont Pleasant Middle School Welcomes Octavious Cook as New Assistant Principal

We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Octavious Cookas a new Assistant Principal of Mont Pleasant Middle School.  The Board of Education approved his appointment on Wednesday, December 3.

Though originally from Decatur, Georgia, Mr. Cook's educational journey started right here in Schenectady when he attended Union College.

He brings significant expertise in community and student development, most recently spending three years as the Community School Coordinator at Keane Elementary School.  In this role, he was instrumental in coordinating community events, forging local partnerships, and boosting student and family engagement.  Prior to joining Keane, he taught social studies and served in school administration at Green Tech High School. He first began working in Schenectady during his college years, serving as a My Brother’s Keeper Ambassador and later as an engagement specialist for the Summer Enrichment Program.

Cook earned a master’s degree in secondary education and is pursuing a master’s degree in educational administration.
