Felicia Woods Appointed Cohort Principal of Big Picture Schenectady
The Schenectady City School District is proud to announce that Felicia Woods has been appointed as the new cohort principal of Big Picture Schenectady. Her appointment was formally approved by the Board of Education at its meeting on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
Ms. Woods brings more than a decade of diverse experience in education to this role. Most recently, she served as the School Principal at Albany Leadership Charter School for Girls, a position she held since 2023. Prior to her time as principal, she served as the High School Assistant Principal within the same institution. Her foundational leadership experience also includes serving as a Lead Teacher for 4th and 5th grades at KIPP Albany Community Charter School for twelve years.
While originally from Goldsboro, North Carolina, Ms. Woods was raised in the Capital Region and is a graduate of Albany High School. Her academic journey reflects a deep commitment to both her local community and her professional growth.
She earned an A.S. in Teacher Education (Mathematics) from Schenectady County Community College, followed by a B.S. in Psychology and a Master’s in Elementary Education from Grand Canyon University. She later returned to GCU to complete a second Master’s in Educational Leadership.
Outside of her professional life, Ms. Woods is the proud mother of five children. She is scheduled to begin her leadership role at Big Picture on April 6.
