Welcome new teachers! Today, we kicked off the new school year with New Teacher Orientation!
Our new teaching staff enjoyed a delicious welcome breakfast at The Edison Downtown. Afterward, they heard inspiring remarks from district administrators, our superintendent, the board president, the mayor, district union representatives, First New York FCU representatives, our Teacher of the Year, and SCSD students. Each powerful speech highlighted the profound impact teachers have on shaping young minds, while offering the warmest possible welcome to our Schenectady City School District family.
Next, our new educators boarded an energetic bus tour through the city, learning about the rich history of Schenectady and each of our schools before heading off to their respective campuses.
A huge thank you to the Department of Teaching and Learning for coordinating such a wonderful welcome for our staff. Stay tuned later this week for a video highlighting some of the inspiring words shared today.
