Dr. Leah Kedley is selected as Principal of Hamilton Elementary School

The Schenectady City School District is pleased to announce that on June 07, 2023, the board of education approved the permanent appointment of Dr. Leah Kedley as principal of Hamilton Elementary School.  Kedley has been serving as the substitute principal of the school since March and was selected as the permanent principal after a comprehensive interview process.

“Dr. Kedley stood out as the right leader for Hamilton,” said Anibal Soler Jr., superintendent of schools.  “She has demonstrated a strong commitment to the Hamilton School community. I am confident that she will continue to move the school forward.”

Kedley has worked in education for 18 years.  She served as a kindergarten teacher, spent five years as an assistant principal and prior to coming to Hamilton was a principal in Rochester for two years.

“I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude for providing me the opportunity to join the Schenectady community for the past three months,” said Kedley.  “It has been such a positive and fulfilling experience.  I am thrilled to accept the role as permanent principal of Hamilton Elementary School as we prepare for the 23-24 school year.”

Kedley enjoyed collaborating with Hamilton families and school staff over the last few months and looks forward to continuing that partnership.  “I am blessed to work with such a wonderful staff within Hamilton and across the district,” said Kedley.  “I look forward to pushing us forward and keeping all students in mind as we make necessary shifts in our practices to prepare our students to be upstanding members of our community.  Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to serve our community.”
