For nearly two decades, Josephine Chrys was a foundational part of Howe Elementary, teaching second and third graders from 1964 to 1981. Today, Howe Elementary had the honor of celebrating her upcoming 100th birthday on July 11th, welcoming a true district inspiration back to the halls where she made such an impact. Her legacy is a testament to our students that leading with kindness and a good heart can pave the way for a long and meaningful life.
The celebration started with a student-led questionnaire where Ms. Chrys shared inspiring advice with the current generation of students. Following the Q&A, the school orchestra performed a beautiful tribute—a program she directly championed during her tenure. The youngest students at Howe then performed a special original song just for her, before everyone joined in to sing happy birthday and enjoy some cake. To top off the festivities, she was presented with a handmade birthday card from every single student in the building.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to Josephine and her family for sharing this beautiful milestone with us. Your presence brought so much joy back into our halls, and your lifelong dedication continues to shape the very heart of our school community. We are proud of our Howe students for welcoming her back with such warmth. Thank you to all the staff who made this event happen!
