Not all heroes wear capes—some wear aprons! 🦸‍♂️🍎 Huge thanks to our school nutrition team for fueling our students with healthy meals and big smiles every day.

Take a second to thank a cafeteria hero today.

✂️ A New Chapter Begins: The SCSD Free Library is Open
We are thrilled to share that Wednesday evening marked the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for our brand-new Free Library, located right here in the SCSD Family Engagement Center.

This space was designed with our community in mind, creating an inviting spot where the joy of reading is accessible to everyone.

📚 "If You Love It, Take It!"
Our philosophy is simple: we want books in the hands of our students and families.
Just walk in and browse.
Keep What You Love: Found a book you can’t put down? It’s yours to keep.
Friends of Lbrary is constantly updating our collection, so be sure to check back often for new selections and hidden gems.

❤️ A Special Thank You
This project wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible generosity of the Schenectady Friends of the Library. We are so grateful for their ongoing support of literacy in our district.

📍 Visit Us
Stop by the Family Engagement Center during our regular hours to explore the new collection. We can’t wait to see which books you choose!

Happy Reading, Schenectady! 📖✨

Happy Monday! For this week’s #ProjectBeHere message, we’re thrilled to highlight a recent attendance initiative that was a major success. This past Sunday’s JCC Touch-A-Truck event brought together nearly 700 attendees for a day of community and discovery, marking a phenomenal 50% increase over last year! We were especially proud to see nearly 200 complimentary tickets redeemed by students who earned them through their positive school attendance. Our volunteers at the ticket booth had the wonderful opportunity to personally congratulate these achievers, and the genuine pride on their faces was easily the highlight of the day. It was truly inspiring to see these young learners celebrated for their dedication and enjoying the rewards of their hard work alongside their families. 🚛💨✨ #StudentSuccess

The SCSD budget hearing will take place on May 6, followed by the budget vote on May 19, which features a 0% tax levy increase for the eighth consecutive year. This year's budget also includes three facility propositions.

The second of these three facility propositions is 80 Nott Terrace, the proposed permanent home for our Adult & Continuing Education Center. By moving from renting to owning, the district will secure a future for vital services like GED prep and workforce training, while also freeing up space at the Washington Irving Educational Center for the growing Big Picture program. To learn more about Proposition 2, please visit schenectadyschools.org/page/2026-2027budget. 🏫💼
