Our SFLA Culinary Program students are getting real-world, industry-standard experience right here in the kitchen. Yesterday's lesson? Mastering the Rational oven to see how precision technology elevates modern cooking. They spent the day morning yesterday learning about the advanced Rational oven, a staple in top-tier commercial kitchens, and the results were absolutely delicious.

There is nothing better than seeing hard work turn into high-tech culinary art.

Recently, Ms. Edgar-Johnson and our IB students hosted a wonderful IB Celebration in the library! The event showcased our students' incredible work, featured inspiring student speakers, and celebrated their achievements with awards alongside supportive parents and teachers. Be sure to grab a copy of the new IB newsletter, proudly developed by students Stephan Sukar and Andrew Francis, available in the main office.

As the only school in the capital region to offer the world-renowned IB pathway, we are extremely proud of the students, teachers, and community that make this program such a success! ❤️💙 #schenectadyrising

Advanced Coursework Opportunities for Grades 7-12 (2026-2027 School Year)

In alignment with New York State Education Law Section 817, our district is committed to ensuring that all students have equitable access to Honors, , International Baccalaureate (IB), and College in the High School classes.. We look at your child's unique potential—not just rigid tracking or test scores—and we provide the academic and financial supports they need to succeed.

Check Your Email: We have sent out official informational letters directly to parent/guardian emails today for students entering grades 7-12 next year. The letters have been translated into multiple languages to ensure all families have the information they need.

Need a Different Language or More Info?
If you need to access the letters in another language or want to learn more, please visit the Counseling Department website. You can find it easily by going to the Schenectady High School main website and navigating to the Counseling section.

Let's work together to unlock your child's potential for the 2026-2027 school year. Reach out to your school counselor with any questions!

🌺 As we reach the final days of May, Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month is officially drawing to a close. Culture isn't a trend, and heritage doesn't have an expiration date.

While the designated month on the calendar is ending, our commitment to learning, embracing, and advocating should only be getting started. The AAPI community is beautifully diverse spanning over 50 ethnic groups and 100+ languages, and its impact shapes our world 365 days a year.

* Stay Curious: Keep reading books by AAPI authors, watching documentaries, and listening to podcasts. History and lived experiences are too vast to be fully understood in just 31 days.

* Embrace Beyond the Surface: Move past just enjoying the food and art. Dive deeper into understanding the unique nuances, triumphs, and systemic challenges faced by different groups within the AAPI umbrella.

* Normalize Amplification: Keep elevating AAPI voices, supporting AAPI-owned businesses, and championing representation in your workplaces and communities all year round.

Celebrating heritage isn't about checking a box in May. It's about weaving these diverse stories into the fabric of how we see the world every single day. 🤝✨
