Message From Principal Munrett:
Dear Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School of Excellence Families,
Happy New Year! It is my pleasure to welcome you and your children back to the second half of the 23-24 school year as we say goodbye to 2023 and welcome 2024 with open arms!! I hope you all were able to find some light in your lives over the holiday season and make the most of the time at home with your family and friends.
Outdoor Recess
We strongly believe in the importance of outdoor recess for all of our students. Please be sure that your children are prepared for outdoor recess every day that they attend school. Classes will participate in outdoor recess provided the "feels like" temperature is 32 degrees or higher. Heavy coats, mittens/gloves, and hats, are all strongly recommended so that your children can get necessary fresh air and movement breaks!! If a child has a medical reason for not being able to play outside, please provide a doctor’s note to the nurse. If any family is in need of any of these items for their children, please feel free to reach out to us!! Thank you for your support!!
SAVE THE DATES!!
Tuesday, January 2nd--Students Return - No After School Program
Monday, January 15th--Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day - No School
Tuesday, January 16th - No After School Program
Wednesday, January 24th - 3rd Grade Swim at SHS
CAN MY CHILD GO TO SCHOOL TODAY?
Attendance is so important for your child’s success in school. We take it seriously and expect every student to come to school unless illness prevents them. If you are unsure if your child is too sick to come to school, call 518-370-8360 to discuss the symptoms with Nurse Annie.
As we begin the new year, we look forward to getting back into the routines that had been established before the holidays. Please accept my heartfelt wishes for a happy, healthy, and safe, 2024!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kristin Munrett
Principal of Dr. MLK Jr. School of Excellence

Three Wise Men Celebration to be held Fri., Jan. 5, 3:30 p.m. at Dr. Martin Luther King Elementary School. Everyone is invited!

Will you need food over the holiday break? We offer food pantries in all our elementary schools, MPMS, & SHS. Contact your parent liaison to pick up food for your family. If your child attends a school that does not have a pantry, you can receive food from another location.

Our Strategic Plan survey is still open! If you haven't shared your input yet, you can still do so by clicking here: https://survey.sogolytics.com/survey1.aspx?k=SsRQYSSWsRPsPsPsP&lang=0
