Tony Farina, Principal of Oneida Middle School
Mr. Antonio L. Farina is a 20-year Schenectady City School District employee. He was a science teacher at Schenectady High School and has served 15 years in various roles, and grades, from Dean (grades Pre-K-8) to Assistant Principal (K-8), to Principal (grades Pre-K-2). He holds a B. A. in Psychology from the University of Rochester and a B. S. in Environmental Science with a concentration in Chemistry and Toxicology from the University of Massachusetts.
He received his Ed. M. from MCLA and is currently exploring his options in pursuing his doctoral degree.
He has dedicated his time and efforts to urban education and the children of Schenectady.
He feels that the discussion of equitable access to education and disproportionality is necessary in order for race, poverty, and disability not to be a predictor of achievement. In 2016, Mr. Farina took on the role of building principal at the newly re-opened Oneida Middle School, where he still leads today.
He focuses on utilizing professional learning communities in order to improve instruction by triangulating data, analyzing trauma-sensitive practices, and coordinating efforts through interdisciplinary studies.
