Meet Laura Marion who has worked in the district for 25 years! Starting her career as a special education teacher, she is known for her students to be thought of and treated like family. Moving into a Remedial Reading position, Laura has used her kindness and expertise to help Yates students learn to read for the last 13 years! "I really enjoy my students and coworkers at Yates. I feel very lucky to be where I am!"


Happy International Women's Day! The aim of the IWD 2023 #EmbraceEquity campaign is to get the world talking about why equal opportunities aren't enough. People start from different places, so true inclusion and belonging require equitable action.


There will be no school and the district offices will be closed on Wednesday, 3/8 in observance of the Holi Holiday.
It's a day off but it's also an opportunity to learn about the Hindu holiday celebrated by so many in the Schenectady Community.

Last night we informed parents that there was a vehicle in Central Park trying to lure kids into a car with stuffed animals. The Schenectady Police investigated and do not believe there is any safety concern as it relates to this incident.

This is my 13th year as a social worker and DASA coordinator. I investigate when we suspect a student might be getting bullied and I work with families to keep everyone safe and positive. I love Yates because we operate as if we are a family!

I started my career as a SCSD student and in 2002 returned as a Kindergarten teacher at Hamilton. I transferred over to Yates in 2019. This is my first year in preK and I’m enjoying every moment of it…the good, the silly and the sticky!
