Schenectady City School District Vice President Nohelani Etienne Resigns from Board of Education

The Schenectady City School District Board of Education announced that Vice President Nohelani Etienne has resigned from her seat due to her family’s relocation outside of the city. Etienne, who has served on the board since 2020, was a significant voice in district governance and policy and a strong advocate for Schenectady's children.

Throughout her two terms, Etienne held key roles as a policy committee chairperson, a member of the cell phone ad hoc committee, and a member of the Teacher Center Policy Board. She was actively involved in the school community and served as a liaison to many schools.

Back to School Nights
There have been a few incidents recently where children were approached by strangers on their way to or from school or while waiting for the bus. We want to thank the students who did the right thing by immediately reporting what happened, which allowed police to respond promptly.

Your child's safety is our top priority, and we ask that you take a moment to review and reinforce important safety habits with them. Please remind your child to always report anything that seems suspicious to a trusted adult, whether it's a parent, teacher, or police officer. Having these conversations can give them the confidence to respond safely in any situation.
