This is a follow-up to the note sent earlier about the threat on social media. We learned from the police that the student who made the threat on social media has been arrested and charged with "Making a Terroristic Threat" (Class D Felony).


REMINDER:
Students will be dismissed from school 15 minutes earlier than usual today. This is an annual drill to test transportation & communication systems.

The earlier note indicated the threat was on Snapchat. According to the police, it was posted on TikTok.

It was brought to our attention this morning that there was a threat made on Snapchat last night or early this morning. The police were notified and investigated. They located the student who made the post. Police deemed it a non-credible threat meaning there was no intent to follow through or cause harm. The police investigation is ongoing. Charges may be filed, if appropriate.

The Jewish New Year, called Rosh Hashanah, is a festive time of introspection & preparation for the year ahead. This holiday kicks off the ten Days of Awe known as the High Holy Days (or High Holidays) & is filled with special foods and traditions.


Yates Elementary School will be closed tomorrow, Friday, October 4 due to a water main break on Salina St., Repair is underway and is expected to be completed over the weekend. We apologize for the inconvenience. We expect Yates will be open on Monday.

Thurs., 10/3: No School/District Offices Closed (Rosh Hashanah)
Fri., 10/4: Emergency Early Release Drill - All students will be dismissed from school 15 minutes earlier than usual. Buses will be dropping kids at stops earlier than usual. If you pick your child up from school, please arrive 15 minutes earlier.


🦺Touch a Truck
Students visited more than a dozen stations where National Grid workers showcased their skills and guided them through exercises ranging from handling live wires to operating heavy equipment during the annual Touch a Truck and Career Day.

🚨 At last week's Board of Education Meeting, the board approved a resolution designating Thursday, October 3 as a holiday. In addition to no school for students and teachers, all district offices will be closed and all staff will be off.
