Get ready to plan for high school.

All current 8th graders and their families are invited.

Teaching children to immerse themselves in a good book is one of the most valuable things you can do as a parent. A childhood love of reading sets the stage for success as an adult. A child who loves reading will have an inquiring mind, a vivid imagination, and great problem-solving skills. Set some time aside to do some reading with your kids this week and inspire a lifelong love of the written word.

MEET ONEIDA'S PTSO NEWEST MEMBERS!
PTSO PRESIDENT: SHANA LEWIS FAMILY! - Hi! My name is Shana Lewis and I am the proud mom of Adagio Weller. We are new to Oneida middle school this year (6th grade). I formally served on the PTSO at Zoller elementary where I was influential in planning and volunteering at many events throughout my son’s time there. I am excited to be apart of the PTSO at Oneida Middle School because I think that it is important to be connected and build relationships with teachers and staff that are now a part of my son’s village, to be of advocacy to not only my child’s education but other children too and to make a change, whether that is for one child or many. I am willing and ready to utilize my knowledge and skills in whatever capacity that I am needed. Let’s go Timberwolves!
CO-PRESIDENT HALLIE MCKINNON AND FAMILY! - Hello! My name is Hallie McKinnon, and I am the proud mother of Addison, who is in 6th grade at Oneida Middle School. In addition to Addison, I have four wonderful daughters — Ellie, age 9; Kennedy, age 4; and Lennon Grace, age 2 — as well as my amazing stepdaughter, Isabela, age 7. Life is full, busy, and beautiful — definitely keeping me on my toes as a super mom!
My two middle children attend a private school where I am assisting with first grade this year. During the pandemic, I helped spearhead 518Mamas, a grassroots social justice organization supporting families and children through daily challenges and advocating for those in need. Currently, I am in the process of forming a daycare to provide safe, nurturing, and high-quality care for children of all backgrounds — an initiative inspired by my own experience as a mother of four (and bonus mom to one).
I am honored to serve as PTSO Co-President and to work alongside families, teachers, and staff to make a positive impact on our school community. Thank you!
TREASURER KRISTEN PIRRO (KP) EVANS AND FAMILY! - Hello, I was born and raIsed in Schenectady and I am a true lover of our small city! In addition to being an Oneida alum and the proud mom of two current Oneida students, I am the current Executive Director of the Capital Region Land Bank, and have 15+ years of experience in non-profit management, event planning, fundraising, and advocacy work, and 5+ years of experience in direct care, employment coaching, and case management for both teens and adults. From 2006 - 2021 I served as a founding board member, volunteer coordinator, and first-ever executive director of Albany Barn, Inc., and in 2017 brought the organization to Schenectady with the opening of the Electric City Barn makers' space in Hamilton Hill. I currently serve as Vice President and Program Committee Chair for the Zonta Club of Schenectady, a service and advocacy organization dedicated to improving the status of women and girls locally and worldwide.
