Dear Van Families,
We are working with students this month on a very intentional focus around literacy and reading. In school, students will have a DEAR time where they will Drop Everything And Read as an entire building daily. As a class they will be decorating their classroom doors to depict their favorite book, and we will be looking for you to be the judges of the best door on January 28th at our Literacy night.😊We have also sent home reading logs to have students track their reading at home. Please sign these each day, to be turned in at the end of each week, as each class is also competing to see who read the most this month.
We are excited to get students excited about reading.
Thank you for your help.
Join us tomorrow evening at 4:30 p.m. at Schenectady HS for a chat and Q&A with Carlos Moreno, co-executive director of Big Picture Learning and author. He is a passionate education trailblazer who supports schools in efforts to improve. Everyone is welcome!

Good Morning,
Unfortunately we are going to have to move Balloons over Broadway inside due to rain, so this will be a student only event. Families, we will take lots of pictures and post on social media. Sorry for the inconvenience, but due to limited space we will continue with just students.
Thank you for understanding.
Reminder: No school tomorrow (Wednesday), Thursday and Friday this week.
District offices will be closed Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday!
We are thankful for our students, families, the Sch'dy community, and all those who partner with us.

A Central Park MS student reported that this morning on her way to school a person, believed to be a man wearing a mask, driving a gray car, followed her and gestured for her to get into his car through an open window. She continued on to school and arrived safely. This occurred near Albany St & Winston Place. Police were immediately contacted. Police have identified the vehicle and the investigation is ongoing.

Good evening Van families!
I hope you had a great weekend. A few things coming up this week.
Monday- matching Monday. Each grade level should wear their assigned color. Kindergarten reminded me Friday that if everyone does, we will have a beautiful rainbow in the gym in the morning.
junior Achievement will be back later this week to work with students on grades 3-5.
Reminder that the PBIS Assembly was changed from this week to 11/ 26.
Students are working on their Balloons over Broadway event with Ms. Luke in Library.
We have our Peace keepers applications up and running, and students are very excited to continue working in their classes on Math and ELA.
As always, it is a pleasure to be a part of seeing all of our students grow. Have a great weekend.
Mrs. Collins
