Good Morning, Van Fam! This week we will be starting our Second Step Social Emotional Learning Curriculum. People with strong social emotional skills are better able to cope with every day challenges. Our curriculum teaches problem solving, self discipline, impulse control, and emotional management - the skills needed to be a scholar and a good friend!
Additionally, this week, the window for the iReady assessment opens. Your child in grades K-5 will be assessed in both literacy and math skills. The results from this assessment will help us to plan for instruction and make sure students are getting instruction that is crafted specifically for them!

Hello, Van Family! Just some updates/reminders about arrival and dismissal at Van this year. All students, except for PreK, will enter through the main doors. Students in grades 1-5 will go straight to their classrooms. Kindergarten students will be brought straight into the gym to line up by class. Kindergarten parents will not be able to accompany their children to the gym, but school staff will be at the door to receive them from you and bring them to the gym. School starts at 7:45. Please do not drop students prior to that time. Students who arrive after 8:00 will be marked tardy The following doors will be used for dismissal. Dismissal will begin at 2:30: PreK - door 3 K - door 5 1- door 3 2 - door 4 3- main door 4 - door 4 5 - main door If you arrive for pick up after 2:40, you will need to come to the front door to pick your child up There will be no pick ups between 2:00 and 2:30 Please reach out if you have any questions!
