🏀 Superintendent Cotto had fun visiting our young learners who are enjoying a week of hands-on discovery during our spring break STEAM Camp 🚀🧪
Students from the Law Enforcement Engagement Program had an incredible hands-on learning experience during their visit to the State Police Aviation Unit and the Schenectady County Jail.
Participants toured the hangar and the jail, gaining a behind-the scenes look at the many roles within law enforcement. Experiences like this give our students a deeper understanding of career opportunities in law enforcement and the dedication it takes to serve our community. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this trip both educational and inspiring!

To apply, families must reside within the Schenectady City School District. Age requirements are as follows:
3-Year-Old Program: Child must be 3 on or before December 1, 2026.

* There will be a significant police presence around the school on both days.
* Officers will be seen carrying weapons as part of the simulation.
* This is training and there is no danger to the public.
We are sharing this so our neighbors are informed and not alarmed by the police activity.

The SCSD is hosting its Annual Art Exhibit at the ViaPort Rotterdam Mall from May 1–20, 2026. The community is invited to view a diverse collection of student work throughout the month. An opening reception will be held on Monday, May 4, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM!
